10098 Still, Still, Still
Traditional Austrian
arranged for ten-piece brass
by Roger Harvey
Price: £20.00
Difficulty: Medium
Programme note:
Still, Still, Still uses an Austrian lullaby which first appeared in a folksong collection in Salzburg in 1865. The words, from the 20th Century and attributed to Georg Götsch tell simply of Mary rocking the baby Jesus to sleep.
Performance note:
The accompaniment should be gently phrased but with a slight articulation to give a little definition to the arpeggio figures. The melody in verse 1 should be expressive but simply played.
In verse 2, retain the very gentle, subtle dynamics.
The ritenuto before D should create a very relaxed cadence, placing moving notes very carefully and without haste.
