The Ash Grove tells the sorry story of the course of true love being prevented from running true by the death of the singer's lover, leaving her to wander in the woods with only her memories to console her.

This version is simply arranged for trombone octet.

Performance notes:

Play with great care for legato, cantabile style. Make sure that the melody line is always evident; in passages where the tune is passed from voice to voice make sure that once the melody is passed you back off. As the harmonies are generally very simple, good intonation is crucial.
