20027 - Magnificat Sexti Toni Tomás Luis de Victoria arranged for 12-piece brass ensemble by Roger Harvey Difficulty: Medium Price: £25.00 Programme note: Victoria was the most pre-eminent Spanish composer of the late 16thj Century, ranking alongside Palestrina and Lassus. He was born in Castille and in 1565, after a rigorous musical education at Avila cathedral, he travelled to Rome. While here, as well as holding prestigious musical posts he became a priest. After 1587 he spent most of his life in Madrid in the service of the church and nobility. His music is exclusively sacred; the style ows much to the Italian style but there is an expressive personality that markls it apart from the more austere style of Palestrina. The Magnificat Sexti Toni is scored for 3 4-part choirs.Performance note: |
