Arranging for Brass - Module 2: Piano Transcription

Price: £120.00

This set of videos introduces techniques for arranging keyboard music for brass.

Simple, middle of the keyboard repertoire might be relatively straightforward to transcribe, given the ideas outlined in Module 1. More developed, idiomatic pieces will take some manipulation to deal with technical isuues and the different sonorities of the keyboard and a brass ensemble. This module gives examples of how to approach these issues, adapting material to accommodate essential changes and enhancing the sound and texture to compemsate for the change of medium.

Each of the 5 videos shows the instrumental considerations and musical techniques employed to transfer the original source material into a practical and effective brass arrangement.

The examples in this module are:

1. Colinde - Bela Bartok
2. Gopak of the Jolly Lads - Modest Mussorgksy
3. Sonata Kk394 - Domenico Scarlatti
4. Evening in the Mountains - Edvard Grieg
5. Etude No 4 - Igor Stravinsky

Each video concludes with a suggested exercise example with which to put the techniques into practice.
